Consignee

Consignee Definition:

In the shipping and logistics industry, a consignee is the receiver of a cargo or container, usually the buyer, owner, or agent. They are individuals financially responsible for the received shipment.

The consignee is the person, company, or party to whom the container or cargo is delivered or sent. They are the owners or designated entities authorized by the owner to receive the cargo. During shipment, the consignee's details, such as the address and name, are specified in the transportation documents, including the bill of lading. The consignee is also the person or party notified by the carrier of the impeding container delivery.
