LO/LO

LO/LO Definition:

LO-LO or Lift-On/Lift-Off refers to cargo ships or vessels with onboard cranes for loading and unloading cargo. These ships have huge space on top and the ship deck to fit large LO-LO cargo or containers lifted for shipping.

In LO-LO operations, the crane loads the cargo over the vessel or ship's top. This transportation process helps increase efficiency in container transport. LO-LO shipping utilizes three types of cranes, including Jib cranes, Derrick cranes, and Gantry cranes. LO-LO ships are the best option for shippers with cargo that is too large for containers. Besides offering flexibility in terms of cargo space, Lo-LO is cost-effective, environmentally- friendly, and economical.
